The entire unit appears to be post war reproduction.

You need to post better pictures and sharper! It's all in the details.
Check out other daggers that fellow collectors posted for opinions..

            Thanks Guys.

I only have this picture of the chain - it is sharp (I think).

But as it looks right now my friend has a problem

            Thanks again and best regards

This dagger is not a repoduction! It is one of the late models (nickel Plated) the stamp on the blade RZM 941/40.... 941 is the kode from the maker Marx & Moschütz fabrik in Herzberg/Elster Brandenburg. 40 is the year of produktion. The daggerblade is from a mannschafts dolch/ the plain SS dagger it was fitted in to the sheath, this was a normal metode to save money, the most chain daggers have no RZM. But then a officer could save a lot of money, using his old daggers blade, hilt, to get the chain dagger as a officer. I have seen many repoductions of the chain dagger from Spain, China, Polen and Russia and they are all not very well made. This is not one of them. If you are a real collecter, you will not dout that.
                Best regards

IMHO "if you are a real collector" you should have doubts about this dagger.
