    Bayonet preservation - best ways

    Hi guys

I recently discovered small brown rust dots on a WW1 Butcher bayonet, and grey dots on the blade of a sword. I'm wondering what currently are the best way to preservate swords and bayonets without causing more damage?

Not touch with fingerprints, cleaning with soft cloth, and probably slightly oiling by conservation. Stabile temperature and low humidity.

Renaissance Wax is a popular option.

Each to their own but I'm a fan of Renaissance Wax all the way from top to bottom. Unlike oil it does not gather dust and turn gummy over time.
