Marked Eickhorn crossguards - type ...

Hello, I would like to ask, if the company had any Eickhorn rules for signs crossguards - within the upper and lower crossg. It marked only certain types, or all the same? / H.E. ... A.R. ... or no letter markings.

    It is mainly SA dagger

    Thank you, Charlie

    Hi Charlie,

I have a transitional Eickhorn with unmarkeds crossguards, but I had see a early one with crossguards ¨A & R¨ markeds and may be there are some other too. I think there are no rules for it, Eickhorn was a great maker and may be with soo much subcontractors.

    Regards,

    Ricardo

Also, I think that was eickhorn big company and I do not believe that they used only the two signs - which I mentioned before. One collector tells me that if there is crossguards other than the markings, or no markings, it is not the original parts from eickhorn dagger. They say it shows in his book on page 34 Exploring and Wittmann.

I am sure that with my dagger transitional eickhorn and one transitional ss dagger crossguards are no markings - and this is absolutely an original, which never changed from the war.

        Observe Charlie,

My SA Eickhorn transitional has unmarkeds crossguards too. I think it will be more than a coincidence, we have here 3 different daggers from the same periode and maker and all 3 had it's "supposed markeds original crossguards" changends just only for unmarked ones. I think it's more beliveable unmarkeds crossguards are normaly issued by Eickhorn in it's transitional daggers.

I don't know the book you mentioned, but may be it was writed some times ago and is not atualized in it's informations.

        Best Regards,

        Ricardo

            Hi Charlie,

I don't have access to Wittmann's book, but I have a english edition from Ralf Siegert's book and I think he don't excluded other's markings or no markings for Eickhorn's daggers crossguards, he only informed H.E. markeds crossguards are for use in Eickhorn Hause daggers.

When I purchased this Eickhorn, I posted it's pictures, included these unmarked crossguards, here and in other two daggers foruns (GDC and WRF). Some very kneew experienced collectors opined about it and nobody questioned it's crossguards. I think there is no problems about them.
