      Mark,
What about dipping your stand in plastic?I don't know what it is called but it is similar to the plastic coating on coat hangers or chain link fencing-the more you dip,the thicker the coat.
      Or chrome plate it.

        Hey, thats a great idea!

Like what they do to plier handles, right? Eastwood sells this stuff.

I like the chrome idea as well, though I would have to ship it out to have it done.

        Thanks!

The power of the collective minds! This is just too, cool! Skip, I'll send measurements soon as soon as I figure out where she'll let me have one.

Of course, nothing like Skipper´s beautifully crafted displays, but I thought I´d show you dagger guys my only two daggers in their recently finished displays. The frames are from IKEA Germany! Minus velvet, of course.
I will have plaques with descriptions on the lower frame (on the outside). The navy dagger is my grandfather´s. All I am missing now is an army dagger (maybe one day SS and SA). But I have to draw the line somewhere, I am a medal and badges guy! But there is some venom slowly crawling thorugh my veins already as you can tell. I bet Mark Schroeder knows that feeling.

            Cheers, Frank

pic (1943) of my grandfather Josef Hermann Karl Meurer wearing the Marine dagger displayed above. He was in the medical corps of the KM.

Very NICE indeed, Frank. Wow, you still have your grandfathers dagger! Incredible and wonderful.

                    Way to go, Frank!

Welcome to the wonderful world of dagger collecting and what a way to start...with your grandfather's dagger. Looks to be in really nice shape, too.

Fair warning - once you start, it's hard to stop!

                    Best,

Frankly, I dont know how you dagger guys afford it. Everytime I buy a dagger its like the scene where Indiana Jones has to pick the Holy Grail from all those ordinary cups.....

                      "Choose wisely...."

At $400 plus (thats a BIG plus) a pop, its a little unnerving..and so many variables...

It is pretty cool to nab a nice one though...and then you start all over...
