        Hmmm

Definitely not an expert, but the Mother of Pearl does not look good to me, hence why I would disqualify the dagger.

If it is a fake it looks better than most of them. You need better and brighter pictures.

When I look at the bending of the crossguard, look at the "golden" colour, look at the mother-of-perl,......
This is a fake in my opinion.

I agree with Dr. Dolch's 'diagnosis' in this case; is that a 'second opinion?!' Most of your pix seem slightly out of focus and that is casting a goldish color upon the piece, or perhaps it's the lighting? Also, years of nicotine exposure often leaves that same goldish color. The closeup of the reverse crossguard looks like the piece is silver colored. Gold or silver makes a difference in IDing which arm of service this piece was meant to represent. Also we need a closeup of the eagle crossguard in order to know whether this piece was made for the Diplomatic Corps or German Government service.

I sure hope these new picture's are good to determine if it's original or not.

These dont come cheap so dont want to spend this amount on a fake piece

The additional pix are helpful, though not perhaps encouraging. The piece appears to be a Diplomatic Corps sidearm, but the detail of the eagle and swaz look rough and indistinct, not sharp like they should. The condition of the piece, including the blade and maker's mark, appears to be poor. The original color seems to be silver, though the scabbard may have a 'nicotine patina,' as may the rest of the exposed fittings. These pieces are rare and always highly expensive, so my attitude to this particular example would be to pass on it and wait for a nicer one. They are certainly out there -- check Tom Wittmann's and Bill Shea's websites, to name only two possibilities. Given the normal cost of these pieces, often over $10,000, your need to be completely sold on such an example is completely justified!
