Is this a real NSKK Dagger?

    Hi All,

I'm looking to make my 1st WWII SA Dagger purchase. I am terrifed I am going to end up with a copy so I've passed on a few that seemed too good to be true. This one looks rough and the guy selling it claims its authentic.

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks,

    Hi Matt,

It does indeed look both authentic and rough. I'm going to suggest that you pass it by. I know nothing of your circumstances in life but if at all possible save your money till you are able to afford one in good condition. If there is one thing I've learned collecting militaria it's that quality will hold it's value. Another point to remember whenever buying edged weapons is that the value is in the blade.

May I suggest that if you want to buy a piece you will be totally comfortable with buy from WAF member (lakesidetrader) Paul Hogle. I've done many thousands of dollars of business with Paul and have no hesitation in recommending his site and services.

I'm sure others will offer suggestions regarding other safe dealers but as Paul is the "go to" guy for daggers I have suggested him in this particular case.

    Regards,
    Stu
PS: When you are on Paul's site go to the educational tab and review the SA tutorial that is there. Authored by Paul, it goes over the basics and is a must read for dagger enthusiasts.

Thanks Stu I was pretty sure it was real also but was looking for a second opinion. I think I am going to pass on it as you suggest because the condition is rough....to say the least.

Here are a couple "Hogle" daggers just to show you the kind of items he comes up with.

Just one more thing I notice on the blade I was looking at...is the fact that the RZM not centered on the blade a giveaway that it maybe a copy?

By the way Stu...he has very reasonable prices. I could afford one soon!! And they are almost perfect. I'm excited.

Paul is a good guy and has fair prices...my highest recommendation. the dagger on Craigslist shown in the original post is worth 250-300 IMO which means the seller will of course expect 800... lately, Craigslist has bottomed out for me as a place to get militaria from.

                Hi Matt,

I think there is no problem about RZM logo position, sometimes logo was not etched very well centered on blade. But I agree with the others, dagger is not in good condition and pictures don't show all details for a correct conclusion about it's authenticity at all.

I think too Paul Hogle's site is a very good souce to by a correct dagger and he's tutorial educate me very well about SA daggers when I was a begginer.

                Regards,

                Ricardo

Thanks for all the help. I think I'm going with Hogel if I can find the right one for me.
