Are my eyes going or did someone re wrap the handle with spring wire?
I take it's unmarked?

Hi Petopoint. The wire does look a little suspect. There are bno markings on the item.

Hi Peter,

It looks okay when I compare it with one of mine. I'd say you got
a late war model with no mfgr stamp. (White grips)
The wrap wire may becoming untangled or it was replaced at one time.

The only 2nd Luft that I have to look at at the moment is a completely wrecked SMF one , waffenant stamped on the blade, for which these are, I think, noted. The wire on that is very similar and because of the damage, I can see that this wire is comprised of a double strand of twisted wire surrounded by what resembles a closely coiled spring wire, coiled around the central twisted double strands.

100% original IMO and I do not think the grip wire was replaced.
