HJ question, good or bad?

I might go look at this HJ knife today if all is well. I can't recall what the number 40 stamped near the cross guard means? Not the greatest shape overall, but may be worth it.

40 means year made 1940

Thanks for the replies. I was disappointed that the blade had a wobble to it but ended up purchasing the knife anyway. The seller picked it up at a garage sales years ago and had no use for it.
