The dagger is a nice double marked Eick - and the chain is OK.

Please compare to the pics of the NSKK chain shown below.

I cannot comment on the chain - but sure looks like a beauty transitional dagger!

Perhaps some close-ups on the scabbard to make sure it hasn't been played with / repainted would be good!

          Here's a reference which can't be doubted:

I should by the way show the front of the NSKK chain above.

            1. Showing another 'A' marked chain combined with '5/8' stamp doesn't make it "can't be doubted'.

            2. The quality of matl's on the chain you show is much higher than on other NSKK chains with 1940 dated daggers.
Can you also post a close up on the 'korpsfuhrung' ? Something looks wrong with the umlaut.

            3. the center scabbard mount is located further down the scabbard then standard placement.

I'm not convinced that the chain is not a fake. Is this your dagger, Jesper ?

What does this "matl's" mean - material ?

You by the way should compare the dagger and chains with the ones you find here: http://www.militarycollectiblesinc.c...hp?cPath=14_42

                Yes, 'mat'l' means 'material'.

You show a upper 3 link chain, which looks like (if real, which I doubt) is make made from nickel steel, and would have been used on 1938 upgrade daggers. All others 1940 example I have seen have plated steel links.

Your dagger must be, if real, a rare varient. right?

Please show also the close-up on the umlat. (that's was always a 'line-up' problem for the fakers)

Again, is this your dagger ?

Excuse me - but are we discussing MAXIMUS39's dagger and chain or what ?

I'm just showing a pic I have of a similar chain. Both are OK if you compare them to the chains here:

The placement of the center scabbard mount is OK when you compare to daggers linked to:

                    .

Yes, I'm discussing the dagger MAXIMUS39's posted on top a chained 1940 Eickhorn dagger.

So this is your dagger your selling?

                      No - it isn't.

And MAXIMUS39's chained NSKK is perfectly OK.

Seems like some chains come with the Assmann "A" and some do not. Does the placement of the "A" matter? Below the RZM stamp or above it?

                          No - the A doesn't matter.

                          Neither does the placement.

I agree with Wags on this one, caution may be advised with this particular vintage. While there are good period examples of this type, this version was very well faked, so some detailed images would help, particularly of the Oak leaf hanger.

This dagger may be good, but I've also handled some exceptional copies which were also transitional Eickhorns with the "A" stamping to the link. Some of this vintage had the round holes on the links which were obvious, others had that "problem" rectified and have become difficult to spot...
