    F.W. Holler Early Heer

F.W. Holler early example with the Holler type-1 guard. Nice hand detail work to the guard and pommel. Brass scabbard has a double screw configuration and small rings. Dagger has allot of lacquer clinging to the surfaces giving it a pleasing tone. The maker mark is facing the front and left the factory in this position. Rear of crossguard is personalized with a stamped A

    Tom:

Can I see a closer shot of the maker mark? Is this the 17 tick or the 19 tick version?

Especially the grip is stunning. A great addition to any collection.

Serge No it’s not numbered to my knowledge none of the early Hollers are. Weyersberg and Horster did number some of their early examples.

John Z it’s a 17 tick hard to capture a picture of the whole mark as it’s under the guard and the guard is nicely staked to the tang.

Many Thanks for the comments guys John Z both my early Hollers are the 17 tick they are initial production 1935 vintage. Now with the 2nd luft making its appearance in 1937 I am willing to bet that the examples with the 17 tick blade are the earliest examples how many 19 ticks have you seen?

                      Tom:

I recall seeing one 19 tick Holler posted on one of the sites, but which one and when elude me.

I would hazard a guess that the 17 and 19 tick versions were used early on and the 11 tick is a late version.
