What exactly is your interest in these artifacts JR? those dirty corroded pieces certainly did not look like that back in 1945 at the end of the 3rd Reich, sorry but I actually though that was where the interest lay and not the accumulation of 65 years worth of dirt, you might as well collect a bag of 65 year old nails if you're only interested in rust and gunk.
Some guru of this hobby might just explain why the better conditioned pieces always bring more money on dealer sites, take TW for instance, he's asking a record price for a M36 because in his words,' it was meticulously cleaned by it's former owner'.
Let's not kid anyone JR, you yourself have got better prices for cleaner pieces, right.
One minute some of you lot are drooling over Manfred's collection, next minute you're lauding what you see as 'Patina', truth is the ones who purport to disregard the minty pieces in favour of the so called 'been there' look are fooling themselves, 'been there', been where exactly? 12 years in the Reich as a treasured and cared for dress uniform accoutrement , followed by 65 years of neglect.
Anyone who appreciates this post war so called 'Patina' needs to really do some serious figuring out and stop taking notice of dealers who will find any angle to sell their wares.
Just take TW for example, his descriptions belie a certain hypocrisy, on the one hand he lauds the piece I mentioned above, on the other he drools about
'that green deposit that collectors love to see' well not this collector chaps.
At the end of the day it's each to his own, I'm only on the fringes of this branch of militaria and fortunate enough to be able to cherry pick, I have around a dozen of these things, almost all unissued tagged and just as they left the factory, for me, I wouldn't want it any other way

I thought his is supposed to be for fun, to each their own. Why attack other people's interests and what they find attractive. Some like blonds and some like brunets!

Step down off your pedestal your arrogance really irks me your opinion is just that an opinion for you to dictate how people are to manage their own collections is absurd.

Not a dagger but I don't think I'll be trying to clean this one soon! IMO it should be to each his own in this hobby. I would only clean something in a situation where there was active rust or "green gunk"for example.
I enjoy this relic condition 1906 Luger just as it is and get more comments about it then some of the pristine items in my collection.

Well chum, this an open forum that invites comments and opinions and you got mine, if that 'irks' you that's your problem, have to say though, I've never been 'irked' by anything anyone says on forums, had many a laugh at the naivety and gullibility of some though
