Senior forestry cutlass old one

Old forestry cutlass with no scabbard, does have a cool lookin knot.
just purchased this from a vets son, marked wk&c
i think its imperial but how old i am not sure?

A very old one, probably close to 150 years old, not particularily valuable on it's own but that knot is superb, a very rare Imperial portepee, an original knot like that is hardly ever seen.

I wonder if the handle could be ivory or some kind of animal horn, has some graining in it.

Yes the grip plates are Ivory, a vast majority were at this time, it's a nice old original piece.
