early Ernst Röhm SA dagger - E. Pack

    Hello all,

Any chance I found something good here or just a common reproduction of this dagger? I know E.Pack's are heavily reproduced so I would appreciate an expert opinion on this one. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

        E. Pack are probably one of the commonest rohm daggers, so this alone gives a chance. I had one myself looked very similar, mine was not in as good condition and rohm signature was erased but the the rest of the sentence was very similar to yours. So am not going to knock it, best wait till someone with more experience looks at it.

I'm not a expert but you don't have to be on this fake. -sorry-

Don't ask 'what is wrong'...as there is way too much. Closer to say what is correct with it. Compare with a real e-pack Rohm dedication and you will see it.

Of course it's JMO, others may say different and you should seek other opinions.

              Hey Vid !
What's up ? You want me to give you a lesson on Rohm's ?
              Not so fast G.I.
First you need to decide which pill you want to take...the blue pill, or the red pill ?

Hmmmm, Blue looks pretty, but the red is nice might have to take both and like to have my cake and eat it too. ;o)

A little suggestion; the blue pill will make you happy you got a nice rarity cheap.

The Red Pill will make you want to stick this rarity up sellers kazoo.
WARNING ! ! ! Too many had wanted the The Red Pill....well let's say they are no longer in the hobby and ended up selling their hair to a wig shop.

So before you take the plunge ....as I have a feeling I know what you will want.. Bottoms UP ! HALT ! OK...I see you wanted them both! aaaa special customer.
Doc's Strangelove's goat is smilin already...

What I do first is I see how the dedication is placed/spaced on the blade.

Then I look and see the what kind of logo is shown and how it's spaced between crossguard and the last letter in 'Rohm'.

Study each letter of the dedication of a known original E-Pack Rohm SA.

Pay particular attention to the 'Ernst Rohm' letters. Noting the spacing of the legs on 'R', and the flow of the 'r' and the tail of the 'm'.

E-pack Rohm's were a very snug package, so I look for any gaps where blade base meets crossguard. There should be no gaps.

Then if your really get into it...there's a bit more, like knowing what e-pack components look like, grips, crossguards, scabbards.
Check the crossgrain on both sides. The depth of the acid etch of the motto, dedication and logo. Same goes for the shades of the burnishing.

After doing that....you should be able to tell on about 95% of the fakes out there.
                          Oh....I know...what your going to say....what about that last 5% ?...

                          Well......my friend....with a super-fake you better know who to turn too !

                          Been Fun Guys.
                          Hope this helps.

Wags, Likewise Thanks for the lesson - but I still can't decide which pill to take. Because when I looked a little closer at the first example it looks like the mega-mega-rare Elektromechaniker Graveur version of the Röhm dagger motto and TM. What to do? Fred
