Nice example! I especially like these as they were awarded and MUCH rare the the chained M36 daggers!

Thats true my friend! I seem to stradle the fence though. A M36 has a lot going for it in my eyes. It would be a hard pick if i had to pick just one.

Both are sweet to own as you know

      Thanks for the compliments,

Dustin, I am in awe of this beautiful sword and glad you have it. For me this is the holy grail of ss collecting - even cooler than the dagger - yep, I really think so - because of what it represents and how it was revered and awarded to a very select class of military men, the elite of the elite. I know you go through collecting phases but to me, this would be the ultimate keeper. And if you consider the designer was Diebitsch who was so instrumental in the design of most ss regalia and culture items - you then grasp why this piece is more than only a symbol of office and was designed with a deeper meaning in mind!

Totally agree. The chained SS, no matter how great it looks (and it does look awesome), can't be compared to the sword. The dagger could be worn by every officer and some NCO's as well, but the sword was for the chosen officers only, and it was presented by Himmler personally (if you keep it in your hand you're aware in who's hand it once was...). Also despite of similar (not the same, but close) price on the collectors market, the availability is a totally different story.

Agree too,the design of the Degen is timeless and typical for the black-order:understatement.Furthermore: the SS-Führerdegen Award-Certificate was hand signed by Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler self, but the most Honor-Ring certificates was faksimile!
The Degen holders was the new knights in the modern world-read the award-text and you know what i mean!

Thanks Don for your kind words. After working on a few deals in the past with no avail, Im fortunate this one did. Im excited to have it in hand.

Perhaps I need to read up on the culture aspect of the SS.

              Thanks to all,
