Need opinions on Klaas SS Dagger & Scabbard...

    Hi all,

I just received this SS Dagger in with a lot of three total (an RLB Dagger and Gravity Knife). The other two look great, but this one I'm a little concerned about, the scabbard in particular. The scabbard looks too new, especially when compared to the cross guards, and I fear it may be either a replacement that was repainted, or perhaps a reproduction. I don't have any reproductions to compare to so please let me know what you think.

Let me know your general thoughts about this; any red flags you see, and about the scabbard specifically.

    Thanks!

The scabbard looks like a reproduction to me.It has fittings that are the wrong shape and they do not fit well. The paint would never look that way with a dagger as beat up as yours.I bet the fittings on the dagger are magnetic . (Plated steel)

Thanks for the colorful reply JR

Can you please elaborate of which parts you think are not original to this dagger? Just the scabbard?

The burnishing on the motto, the plated cross guards , the scabbard if original is for an rzm dagger. The finish on the shell would not even be proper for an rzm scabbard

JR, with respect, you still haven't said which parts you feel are not original to this dagger. I understand the scabbard is not, but are you saying that each and every part of this dagger is pieced together from parts of other daggers?

None of the parts go together. The cross guards are plated and for some type of rzm dagger. The grip is heavily damaged but original. The blade is original and pretty much seen its better days. The motto has  been darkened and probably painted at some point. The scabbard if original goes with an rzm dagger not this klaas blade. The whole piece is all cobbled up. If still insist on buying it...start at 50 cents...you can always go up!

Thanks JR. I appreciate the detailed reply. I already purchased the dagger, along with a nice RLB Leader dagger and Gravity Knife. I think I did ok despite the condition of the SS dagger but it still bugs me that its pieced together. Oh well, I can't win them all. I'll probably sell it for parts anyway.

I noticed your sig shows that you replied from you iPhone... Do you use an app to view the forum? If so, what do you use if you don't mind me asking?
