German Kappmesser found near Trier (Germany)

    Hello again,

1 year ago I buy a German paratrooper knife at a flea-market at Trier (Germany) and
I m not sure if its fake or not (like my other knife on the forum). What do you think about this knife?
It has only WaA marking - no serial numbers. Manufacturer is SMF Solingen.
The string is supposed original shroud line (I don´t know - I m not really "Fallschirmjäger-Specialist")
The lever is broken and lose.
I pay 160 Euro ca 210 USD for this.

I did have one just like yours but i had it repaired.
The spring lever was repaired with a modern BUND lever and when finnished you could not tell.
The only differance was the force to activate it used was not as strong.
          The blade wobbled when out.

Its good original gravity knife first model (non takedown) should be a Luftwaffe stick bird proof on spike part a stick bird with a no 5 or 6 lanyard could be original as some of them were made from parachute shoud line. timothy

I’m not collecting gravity knives, but other edged weapons. And I would rather put a broken dagger or bayonet into my collection, than a reworked and with postwar parts completed item. JMO.

This is a prime example of what happens when photos are not attached to WAF server, they are later deleted and the thread becomes useless.

I will be cracking down on members who still insist on using 3rd party photo hosting sites.
If $35. a year to become a Associate Member so one can attach photos to WAF server (besides many other features not available for 'Free Members') is too much to spend so one can make a lasting contribution and hear opinions from other collectors, then in my opinion a thread like this deserves to be deleted, as it serves only frustration and unfortunately we have a lot of now useless threads in all sections of the forum.

Agree with you Serge. If a collector is not willing to pony up $35 to avoid making mistakes that could cost hundreds of $, then they are just silly.
