Sword knot

Hello,
I just got this piece and I am not sure exactly what it's for.
It is a green leather sword knot. Is it police? customs?
Any help would be appreciated.

I believe what you have is simply a very nicely conditioned standard army officer's sword knot. I have quite a number of army officer swords at home, and I believe that nearly all have this knot. I'm sure I'll be corrected if my memory is failing me, but I think that the standard army sword knot was green leather with silver buillion threads and silver ball.
