    Combat Knives

These were a couple of knives that my grandfather had bought years ago. I believe one is a boot knife but any idea on the other?

Hi Peter, the top one is a standard WW1 German trench knife. These exsist in many different styles, but all are similar in design. These were private purchase items. The bottom one is a WW2 German trench knife. I take it that the scabbard has a spring clip on the back? Have a look if it has a tiny Luftwaffe proofmark on the blade, as many were Luftwaffe issue.

I have the same two patterns of knives in my collection too

      Cheers, Ade.

Nice knives Peter, and I concur. The first knife is Imperial vintage and could have been used in WW2. The second one is WW2 vintage and may or may not be marked and should have a clip on the back.
