Bought this trench knife several years ago out of a huge collection from a friend of mine whom has since, sadly, passed away last year. Any opinions on what kind of knife etc. this is would be greatly appreciated.

It´s an Kampfmesser of the Wehrmacht-Luftwaffe and I don´t have any doubt´s rgd. its originality.

Why is there a "S" stamped into the blade, i know of the eagle acceptance mark with a 5 or 6 but never seen a "S" mark as this knife does.Comment

F.e., You can also find the "S" stamp marked upon blades of Wehrmacht tool-knives.
I was told, the "W", and the "S" could be a makers-mark, but I cannot confirm this ...Comment
