Greetings!
I would like to share the HJ knife that I just picked up. As a primarily American collector I have been holding out for "the one" representative HJ knife for my collection. I believe I have found it!
It is an early, moderately-worn example with magnetic hilt and guard. It has faint traces of the motto. The maker mark is MAX WEYERSBERG, SOLINGEN, with "GES GESCHUTZT" also stamped. I have seen this maker mark on other types of daggers but this is the first example I have seen with this maker stamped on an HJ knife.
The diamond wiggles slightly and has a chip out of the enamel. It is also missing the leather buffer.
The scabbard retains most paint and the leather is flexible. There are marks in the leather, which I think are "L F S" (possibly with an oak leaf behind it) but I am not sure. They are hard to make out, and harder to photograph!
Here are the photos! All opinions and feedback are most welcomed on this piece.
