    German Trench Knife

I just picked this up at an estate sale and would love to hear exactly what this is, ww1 or ww2. And I can't find this hallmark, or makers mark. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again

It's a WWI German trench knife made by Jetter & Scheerer, Aesculap-Werke, Tuttlingen. The scabbard and crossguard would have been painted black originally. It was probably a "private purchase" knife since it doesn't have an Imperial inspection mark often found on issued pieces. You can see another in this post http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=521506

Although the black paint is missing at the scabbard, it still a nice WW1 trench knife. This maker is my favourite one and I´d love to have more of such trench knives If anybody has one for sale, let me know. Thanks

Any idea what a knife like this is worth? Thanks for the information about this knife. SB

These were used in WWII as well.
Here's a pic of mine. No maker mark. It was taken from a German soldier, when they left Denmark.
