    imperial german bayonet

    hello, i know that this is an imperial german bayonet from the 19th century and according to some info on the maker this bayonet was only made during 1871. i have seen some bayonets from this time going for alot but i doubt this one is one of them but could somebody tell me anything else on this bayonet and its value?

          Hi John,

          I think this is an Argentine model 1871(?) bayonet that's been cut down.

          Not sure if this description is accurate, but there's a similar one for sale here http://arms2armor.com/store/product1176.html Their price seems optimistic, South American bayonets don't have the same following as German issued pieces.

            Made, but not used, in Imperial Germany.

            Conversion of Argentine Model 1879 bayonet, originally for a Remington Rolling Block rifle, to fit the Argentine Mauser 7.65mm Model 1891 carbine.

                That's similar to the description in the link I posted. They describe it as "Argentine Modelo 1879/91 Knife Bayonet and Scabbard for the Argentine M1891 Mauser Engineer's Carbine" converted from an 1879 bayonet for the Rolling Block rifle.
