Wire looks too fine to me....its old....but then the repro stuff from the 70's is almost 40 years old too.

The extra fine grip wire is much the same as that found on Robt. Klaas 2nd lufts. IMO

The only thing that I can say is that the handle is not made in plastic, maybe it's bakelite, I don't know
