SS Dagger Blade Possible Welded Tang?

I found this SS blade and noticed the area where the blade meets the tang apppears to be repaired or welded and dressed down. I would like opinions as to how it looks to you guys please.

Has definitely been repaired at some time.

You can still see where the break was. Even if you put it together with a grip that repair will always be visible. Nice wall hanger but that's about it.

I agree , probably been welded for some reason .

someone may have overzealously applied excessive pressure while "cleaning " blade while the tang was held in a vice and.....SNAP!

it has happened before.
