Police eagle on bayonet handle ?

    Hello all,

Can anyone shed some light on this one for me? Is this legit?

Most such grip emblems have been added postwar although it's always possible this piece is legitimate. The police grip eagle is a late production solid piece that has been seen on period police bayonets. It's also currently sold by Tom Johnson.

How is the emblem attached to the grip plate? Can you see if it's pinned or does it appear either glued or stuck in place?

        I agree with Billy.
These Johnson eagles, are original or replica?

Johnson's solid eagles are original, assuming that this one is from Johnson. They were used late in the production period from what I can ascertain.

                    Hmmm

I usually class these as post-war additions in most cases I come across. However, this one does not seem to be one of those instances where you know straight away. As BillyG said, it would be most important to determine how it has been attached - whether by prongs or some glue.

                    JAN :-D

                      Hello there,

Looks like some sort of epoxy underneath when I shine a flashlight through.

Epoxy would definitely mean post-war addition of the grip adler. Original grip emblems were pinned to the hilt through the obverse grip plate.
