    Weimar Presentation Deluxe Ivory Axe

We see so much of the same thing here everyday I though let's post something a little different.

A 50 Years of service for some great work. was it a person? was it a whole Fire Brigade?
Missing a suspension ring and not maker marked, but thought to be an Eickhorn product.
One thick piece of Ivory on that grip.

    A bit salty but hey...
you don't see these type of examples around too often.

Hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I do.

Was there originally a second hanger? I can't see the edge of he handle under the point. I've only see one Axe like this in all the years I've been in collecting, comgrats to you. Keep it up[, but leave some for us.

Stunning example of a rarely seen item in any condition. The Cadillac of fire axes, if you will, & presented to boot. If ever it bores you, look no further than me.

Rarity trumps condition, especially in this case!

                    Love it.

                      Brian,
Yes, there was originally a second hanger on the now missing secondary bronze suspension ring that attached here.

Here is an example complete. Imagine taken from Tom Johnson's pictorial series Vol. 3, pg 711. Image used under 'fair use'.

Thanks Billy and everyone else who posted.

I never cared for the most of the Fire axes of the 3rd Reich...but always looking for the 'one' that hit that collector button that we all have. This 1928 presentation example did it for me. Even though the condition not near 'minty', for me as John Z. stated, the rarity trumped the condition.
The quality is really there in this one.

Oh....Ed... Hey ! You hit it! You have no idea how many guys are willing to buy my stuff, even willing to buy huge groupings- for less than even I paid for it.

Can you imagine fighting fires at that time ....no high pressure cannons, No hook and ladders, no modern firefighting techniques....likely hand driven pumps, hauled water, horse driven wagons , and just plain hard work. You have to respect this mans contributions ,and how dangerous firefighting was in that time, as he was there in the time between the old and new... it would be interesting to research his career over his 50 + years serving his city, and saving lives whenever possible, so this is a truly super piece. The fire fighters are never appreciated as much unless you have been a fireman, and understand the dangers involved prior to the modern inventions that have made it a little easier, but still to this day just as dangerous.

Come on, Wags, you are such a capitalist!

You want to sell stuff for more than what you paid for it?

Watch out or the Occupy Wall Street crowd will be camped on your front lawn

                              See you soon,

                              John
