I disagree. Looks ok to me. Not much different from mine.

Looking at pictures of several other Postals I have worked on over the years I am now not sure if this is a bad restoration or a copy. I would need a hands on comparison which is obviously not possible. The close ups show pock marked surfaces that are either from corrosion or low grade casting. The numbered Postals were made of nickel silver. If this is any other material it would be a copy.

I think it is a good copy not a bad copy.

The thing that jumps out at me is the crossguard numbers, they look as if done by a 5 year old. Not something that's original & I suspect there's more to this piece that would be discovered by an in-hand inspection.

The edges of the pommel also look too sharp. I'd say either a good copy or bad resto job but am inclined to say good copy. Tread lightly on this one.

I say it's one of the better made copies from the eastern block countries.

The eagle on my postal is fresh as made yesterday, you can see on the picture that it fits badly to the handle and there is a gap. Your fits well and there is much more grease around.

I see what looks to be pocks from rough casting as opposed to age corrosion.

I would be curious to know what the base metal is. They apparently put in quite an effort to make those castings only to screw up on the surface finish.

This is copy 100%. As a whole. To suggest otherwise is silly. Daggers with same numbers are already going hand to hands, some have gone on spares. If desired, parts with a similar number can be found on Ebay.

Modre of the same serial number would obviously be a give away. However, from what I see, that blade and the TM look pretty good.
