Help Appreciated on M36 Chained SS Dagger

Hi y'all!

At a local auction house, there is a bi-annual military auction. Some of the things are good, but the majority is bad. Does this fit into the latter?

I think the blade has been abused somewhat, cleaned ,polished, steel wool!? looks rough, the rest seems okay though. Not a perfect piece by any means but not totally horrid either. Just my two cents gleaned from a 60 second review. Those nails...oh my..

Thanks for the help, guys! It's a shame...so its a real blade inserted into fake mounts or just a fake scabbard and chain? I'm looking at the handle and the eagle itself just looks funny to me.

Actually, I spotted similar chain at some well known website where it's much better displayed. The TK/SS links look convincing, but those connector links and a clip are unknown to me. The dagger presented in this thread has very poor blade - its condition doesn't match the rest of the dagger at all.

The links are very close, better than most fakes but now that I am taking the time to actually really study them I can see that they are no good, a piece that will fool most easily.
Real and unmolested ones are getting harder and harder to find.

Thanks again Eric and 777! I, too, have a looooong ways to go, but this will be a fun journey for us all. This is definitely a PASS then. Well, more money for the guns!

As for the dagger, someone has already bidded the 1000 minimum as well as on other fakes (he's bidded on quite a few items every time it comes up).
