My first impression is that the crossgraing looks extremly heavy.Perhaps the blade has been "Whizzed" i.e cleaned up.

I was thinking the same thing. Is the source reputable?

I DON'T THINK WHIZZED; BLADE CONDITION'S THE SAME AS THE REST OF THE DAGGER, spine is knife-edge and motto edges perfectly crisp. ACTUALLY THE GRAIN'S REALLY VERY FINE AND HENCE along with the mirror finish hard to photograph OUTSIDE A STUDIO! I'd BUMPED UP THE CONTRAST TO BRING IT OUT; APPARENTLY TOO MUCH.
