    Hi Joel,

Looks like a Fire service dress bayo to me.

Have a look here Joel. It appears from those pics to be what you have. Yours may have the Horster logo although I can't tell for sure.

Fireman's bayonet with 25 cm blade (long model), logo appears to be an early Hörster mark with initials & sword only. Probably has a magnetic hilt like most early Hörsters.

I had a gentlemen e-mail me saying they found it in his the house they just purchased. It is the maker you suggested, I got a closer look. Blade is in good shape. I'm going to make him an offer in hope of reselling it. Thanks to all...

            Joel,

My only suggestion is don't overpay. Sometimes people think they've found a diamond in the rough. Retail on these pieces is anywhere around $100-$140 on Eban, maybe closer to $200 on some dealers' sites considering this one has a servicable frog. Good luck.

Thanks Billy, I've provisionally offered him $50.00 but didn't guarantee it until I saw the blade in person. I'm not looking to get rich by any means. If I did end up getting it I'd likely sell it here for $100.00 hoping its a good deal for a hole in someone's collection.

              Joel

That's certainly fair under the circumstances, good luck snagging it.
