I got a old military sword as a present last night ?

i was enjoying a nice whiskey with the dad of my girlfriend when he told me he had some thing I might like.
He went into a big wooden cupboard and found this and handed it to me.
He didn't know too much about its history but he told me, he got it from a business friends years ago as a present.
I thought maybe it was a copy as i know there are millions of these copied around the world but from the quality and correct age, the leather, every thing. I am absolutely certain this is original.

But I would love to find out more about this sword and who made it and who used it.
so any help on this new fantastic addition to my collection would be warmly welcomed.

    thanks and enjoy the photos.

1860's "short sword". Possibly from Saxony. It is very close to an artillery short sword, but the design of this handle is a bit different. Im sure someone with more expertise on Prussian style swords will have more to offer.
