42 cvl bayonet

what do you think about this bayonet and frog? I have only this photo.

My personal opinion is that this bayo originally had a heavily rusted handle and scabbard. Someone, postwar, wire wheeled the heck out of it and then reblued it. I also theink that the grip scales are homemade replacements, poor fit and looks to be the wrong wood.
