Question for SA specialists:

Long ago one is in Tom Johnson's series of dagger books with a crossguard inscribed Treue um Treue Strum 2/L. Both the motto is known to be Bavarian and the L Standarte is from Munich. So this type of marking of SA Daggers for this unit from the Munich area is know to be correct.

I already know that the other thread got shut down and I’m not trying to restart it. But a statement was made that to me seems that it might be in error. That’s because in Imperial times the motto seen on Bavarian blades is/was: "In Treue Fest" - not “Treue um Treue”.

Which also leads me to question the interpretation of the Leibstandarte part of it as well (for other reasons). Knowing that there are one or more SA specialists who visit the forum from time to time who might have some other specific knowledge/expertise as to SA unit ID’s. FP
