detail of etching, should be Staatswappen of Baden (a region in Germany):

I don't like the look of the burnishing, and what is that crusted up stuff on the grip?? My next issue is with the swastika clamshell, they scare me! I have yet to see one that was pre 45. Very early Eickhorn mark on a swastika emblazened hirshfanger? Many things that make me wonder about this one! Kevin.

I agree with all the points made by Kevin. In addition the pommel nut is one used in post war daggers. In my opinion this is not a period Hirschfaenger.

Sorry, but the etching (dedication) looks typical to all those fake dedications of today. Logo looks totally odd as well. It's sort of "old logo/squirell holding sword" mix.

That TM/swastika combination would scare me away from this item.

I agree with Kevin et al above.

Doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling at all.

It is a new produced item overly embellished.

Thanks for all of your replies, men.

I got it from a very trustable guy, he said, he got it directly from the vets family. He never lied, and I got some really nice items for my collection from him, so I trusted him in this case, too.
Also the quality is very well, leather looks period, does not smell, and the blade has a stamped maker mark, so all looked well to me.

I will contact him and clear the facts out. I will tell them immediately.

                        Cheers
                        Udo
