Shipping Daggers, Swords and Bayonets to Italy

Hello, I just had 2 daggers and 2 bayonets returned to me form the Italian Customs office. They put a note in the packages stating no types of arms can be shipped to Italy even if they are for Sport, Hunting, Combat or as collectors items. Does anyone know a way around this. And it makes me wonder as I look through fleabay and see all the Italian sellers selling bayonets and daggers will it be as issue shipping them out of Italy. Or do they know something I do not. Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.
And also is the whole European Union going to follow this trend ?
    Thanks Jack

By anyway around this, I mean is it just the Postal Systems, or is Fedex OK ?

It has always been illegal to import bayonets to italy. I believe two edged blades, regardless of length are prohibited as well, that would cover the daggers. All knives, including regular pocket knives are a problem when it comes to shipping to Italy. The Swiss knife laws have changed as well, I believe all daggers are now prohibited.
Any shipping method will have to involve customs. If you can justify shipping by FEDEX next day, and depending on your desciption of the contents, it may make it through customs.
