    SA dagger RZM 1198/40

This dagger is currently discussed in a German forum.

It´s a late SA dagger with the RZM number 1198/40.

It seems this maker still hasn´t been identified, right? Or does anybody know this maker?

The originality is also discussed. A German author of a SA dagger reference book had it for a hands-on inspection and thinks it´s a good one.

I thought it might be interesting to all of you as well.

Original IMO, maker to my knowledge is unidentified. Scabbard may be repainted.

i've never seen or heard about in the past 30 years!
this makes me sceptical and i'll wait for other opinions.

                            but anyway
Ivbaust, the crossgain and TM from the dagger you've shown doesn't looks right to me.
perhaps one of an early reproduction

tough to find an black 1198......

Yep, that´s exactly what´s discussed in the German forum. I´ve never seen such an RZM as well, but I´m much less than 30 years in this hobby. However, never seen does not mean automatically being a reproduction .. JMO.

You concerns match exactly the ones of some German forum members. Especially the crossgrain looks different.

However, if it would be a reproduction, why don´t we see more of them? If a manufacturer would have reproduced them post 1945, one would assume that he produced larger quantities for sale, not just a few.

                              However, thanks for your replies
