Vet's family find NSKK Dagger

I got this small collection from Vet's family past weekend. In the group was this early NSKK dagger with the strange hanger. His family told me that this was a hanger which was on the dagger. But there Dad took it off while back. It looks like me an early vertical hanger, but I am not sure. I am not even sure how it went on the dagger.
Any ideas??

Looks like a early corn shucker to me. I had a couple of them and they looked very like this hanger. Hope I am wrong.

It was a tool that the worker slid over his hand and removed the husk off the corn cob. Maybe the family thought it went with the dagger. Good luck

I hope not ,but that would be very funny, because I was sold on the early hanger idea
