damascus naval dagger + initials + ivory grip

I want to show my new kriegsmarine dagger. It comes directly from the vet´s family. The dagger has an ivory grip and a damascus blade with initals of the owner. The dagger comes with documents of the owner. A very nice find I think.

It looks more like artificial damascus to me, is there a mark on the tang? Lovely dagger Regardless

I’m not a Damascus specialist myself, but my sense of it is that it's an artificial as well. Not that it detracts in any way from the dagger. FP

I agree with both members above, an artificial damascus blade. An easy way to tell is the fact that the pattern remains the same on the flats as well as on the bevels / grooves.
This dagger has it all however, with the ivory grip and the hammered scabbard. Congratulations

Lovely, rare & with provenance, you couldn't want much more in a dagger. I agree that the pattern looks like artificial damast rather than actual damast but it's not a detraction IMHO. Thanks for sharing your pics.
