question about NCO´s wearing daggers and swords

I need some help in this question:
the highest rank of NCO (with portepee) in the kriegsmarine, luftwaffe or wehrmacht(stabsoberfeldwebel) got also an officer dagger or an officer sword?
and is it also possible that dagger or sword had damascus blades - ivory grip or etchings on the blade? or were these extras only allowed for officers?

I think it was simply a question of money or a matter of taste.

As Feldwebel or officer you had two options to get your dagger (or uniform as well):

      1) Out of the "Kleiderkammer"
      2) To buy it by your own

My grandfather (Oberfeldwebel) told me about his luft dagger with ivory grip.

Any one more / other informations about this question?

      Regards,

      Ernst

I think that it depends on the service branch as to what was permitted. Government acceptance marks are seen on officer’s model swords from all three branches of the Wehrmacht - the Navy, Army, and the Luftwaffe.

And senior grade NCO’s could purchase their own swords for off duty wear with extra cost options. But most likely were not permitted to use them for official duties. Whereas Army officers were permitted to use any of the multitude of officer’s sword models offered by the various makers. But the same cannot be said for the Navy swords with limited options. Or the Luftwaffe which was even more restricted.

With the only service branch where the same kinds of acceptance/property marking on daggers is fairly common being the Luftwaffe. Which had its own unique set of rules with not only the ranking NCO's allowed to wear daggers with knots. But allowing daggers to be worn by even the lower ranks of personnel as long as they had flight status - but without the officer’s knot. FP
