    Opinions needed on Fireman's Bayonet

I would be grateful for opinions on this Fireman's Bayonet that I have seen. I attach some photographs.
    Thanks,
    Peter.

            Thanks Mametz and Kevin.
As you can see I'm quite a novice with bayonets. Would this be a private purchase piece because of the horn handle ?
            Thanks,
            Peter.

              Peter,

This was a Polizei issued piece due to the issue numbers on the reverse crossguard & rear of the top scabbard fitting. A majority of these bayonets were produced during the Weimar zeit & were continued in service into the 3R. Eventually the 17" blades were ground down to 13", the clamshell devices were ground off & the grip plates were shortened (as you can see by the extra hole near the crossguard). Often collectors will refer to these bayonets as "cut downs". Occasionally you'll fine one that does not have the blood groove going all the way to the tip, an indication that maybe it was 3R produced instead of a recycled piece.

This bayonet has an Alcoso hilt & is double marked by Clemen & Jung, not a problem since C&J was a smaller outfit & likely purchased parts from the larger Alcoso. I've also seen this exact combination of Alcoso hilt/C&J marked blade before so I wouldn't be concerned.

The condition is nice & even nicer that the bayonet's number matches the scabbard. A decent piece IMHO, good luck.
