    Numberd Early SA Dagger

I recently came across this dagger. It is an early Wustof SA dagger. Unfortunately the blade is too far gone to be recovered but there are numbers in the lower crossguard, similar to the numbers found on early SS daggers. I know the numbers for SS can be researched but I was wondering has anyone seen numbers like these and has anyone ever had sucess deciphering them?

SA service records are nearly impossible to research...shame...an interesting project that would make too.

It would be great if a reference for these ever came to light.
I've often wondered what records are hiding in some basement archive somewhere in Russia...

I believe that's the same place where they put "The Arc of the Covenant" in one of the Indiana Jones movies... Like our national debt, it's beyond reach in the Federal Government's hands!!!

It might be worth your time to contact Robert McDivitt of Militaria Research Services via his website. He has been successful in uniting names with numbers in the past and he may be able to offer some assistance to you. He does charge a fee for his efforts, if successful, but I think that is well worth the price.

              Best of luck,

              Br. James
