    Diplomatic/Government Dagger... Need Opinions...

    Hi all,

I'm reviewing this Diplomatic (or Government Official) Dagger for purchase and would like to get some opinions based on the following photos.

What do you guys think, is it good?

    Thanks!

I do not have a good feeling about this one. The quality of the work does not look to good IMO

        Hi JR.

Thanks for the feedback. So you think this is a good one? Is it a Diplomatic or Government?

What would you say the value is of this one, in its tired condition?

JR, that's one sweet GO! I assume by "had" that you no longer have it?

So if you were me, how much would you pay for this one? I want to make sure I don't overpay.

IMO... No more than 2k but it's your money, pay what you will to have it in your collection!

                  Hello Dzyner,

This dagger will only serve as a place holder until one comes along that you really want. Then you may not get your investment back on this one because of the extremely poor condition. The eagle on the cross guard looks to be worn away, there is no plating left at all through-out the dagger. I would compare it to buying a car in a junk yard; at the end of the day, it's still junk! Save your money.... I apologize if my criticism sounds a bit harsh, I mean no disrespect.

                  Kind regards,
                  Don_

                    Hi Don,

I appreciate your candor. I actually decided not to pursue this one. I agree with you, this would only be a placeholder. I try to collect high quality relics, but when something like this comes along I feel I need to "rescue" it. That said, the seller thinks they have gold in their possession so I'm not even going there. I kindly thanked them for their time, and for sharing their relic with me and moved on. You can only try so hard to educate someone as to the true value or nature of their item. From there they need to learn for themselves.
