OOD Police sword??

Hey folks,

Just picked this up the other day.. not a big sword guy but was curious if yall have ever seen a Police sword without any black paint on the scabbard?

Also, what is the meaning of the silver rail that goes up the back side? Ive seen them without the rail on the grip?

the blade doesnt look like it was plated? looks it it was white washed?

I can see that the pommel cap was replaced with something not original?

the blade and D guard both match with 23.

good degen,the pommel is no good this is a replacement,you have som little rest of the black painted on the scheide , now you can find a good pommel but this not easy!'( i have some polizei degen and one ss unter degen with number under the guard i think commun!)

From the pics provided it looks like the blade and scabbard have been painted with some silver paint. I would try to remove the paint from the blade with some paint stripper. I've seen swords and bayonets "adorned" like this before. Typically a vet trying to make his trophies shine.
