        Outside of scabbard repainted, grip looks re-lacquered?, blade is in rough side, but the important item is IMO - it's a authentic SS Officer Honor degen.

        Early manuf., No maker mark (which is also proper for these variants).

          Sorry for the large pics, forgot to downsize them

          I thought the handle had lost all of its black paint. But when I look closer, it seems like there never was any paint on it nor is there any lacquer, the wood just shines, like it was polished or touched very often.

          The scabbard has been repainted but hard to tell how many years ago.
          I know the sword hung in the collection at the highest point , almost at ceiling level, and never came down since it was put up there some 25 years ago...
          of course that still leaves a time gap of some 40 years after WWII ...

                take the pommel screw off and check how it looks when you look into the grip.
                I assume you have also this protective cap (Zündpille) underneath.
                You grip was also one black for sure, only worn down and then possible waxed or maybe even not special treated.
                The black grip paint was worn down easily.

                          a most desirable ss degen,very early model thank for the photos,i have more polizei degen, one ss offizier candidat but no an ss offizier very hard to find in france ,an wonderful degen in a collection!
