My new SA Dagger - made by Haco

    Hi folks,

today the next part for my collection arrived: a nice SA Dagger, made by Haco Berlin.

I think it is in a pretty good condition, but please let me have your comments on this!

    Thanks,

    Kevin

The blade has been cleaned quite a bit making it less desireable, nice handle though, nice scabbard, overall a decent middle of the road example that can be owned without regrets.
    Kind regards,
    Eric

Blade looks re-tipped and maybe the scabbard repainted?

Otherwise nice. HACO daggers are always prized for their obvious pride of workmanship.

Nice dagger Kev it doesnt appear to have been apart in some time, apparently Haco daggers are all numbered on the part of the grip that is covered by the xguard but dont dissasemble if its never been apart....... you will probably regret it, Anyhow as stated below the fit on these daggers is really good and you can see why they are so desirable by alot of collectors.

          SA by Haco

          Hi Kevin,

Haco is a desirable maker of SA daggers and they always display a nice Oak grip with lots of grain to it.
Yes it has has a re tipped blade, painted scabbard as they were originally brown anodised and the blade shows some wear.
Great starter piece and all original.

          Best wishes,
          Ian

The grip is also my fav on this dagger, really very nice.

Is there a overview about which maker made which daggers in which periods? I hear that Haco seems to be a rather rare one, but I don't have a detailed understanding for this - not yet

              Thanks,

              Kev

There is something called the "McSARR" list - its a guide to the rarity of SA early period daggers - I do not own a copy but Haco would be on that list (it bases SA daggers from 10 = rare to 1 = common) again its just a guide, but a good one to base how common the SA maker is.

If you want one try this:

                    Thanks guys!

Means quite common then ... ok.

Also a 5 on the Nakida rating. So, right in the middle... not really common and not really rare

I don,t know what it is about these but they seem to have a weakness
in the tip. I have owned and seen a few of them and the tips all
                        suffer damage
                        Regards
