Long hooked beak eagle crossguard, most I have seen have the flusher beak
Underside of cross guard cut out is very crude
Scabbard tip has been repaired with silver solder or maybe a separate part
Can't tell if the scabbard has two flush mounted screws as proper
Ferrule is upside down IMO

Ferrule is upside down...? C'mon, that's a "serious" red flag
Scabbard looks to have 2 headless screws, which is normal for SMF.
I agree the scabbard tip could have been repaired, even if the solder is not silver.
The crossguard may be not typical SMF, but as with Army daggers, sometimes the crossguards from other maker were used, i.e. Eickhorns with WKC crossguards are not being considered as parts daggers etc.
Anyway, thanks for your opinion, I guess our friend will look for a "textbook" example now.
