          Hi Paul -

Two thoughts - one, Angolia's book "In the Service of the Recih" may be able to answer some of your questions on the size of the Foreign Serivce. I'll take a peek tonight

My second thought is that this may not be a family crest at all, but a German state or city crest. I am far too ignorant of the German Lander to know for sure, though...

            Paul,

My 'go-to' guy when it comes to research is Rob McDivitt. Drop him a line at:
rmcdivittjr@yahoo.com and see what happens. I would be surprised if he couldn't help.

            Good luck,

I'd be surprised. German heraldry is particularly disorganized and out of date.

All I can offer is that this is the crest of a FREIHERR, with 7 balls on the coronet. Occasionally in the south German states you will find a family that used the French version of the title "Baron von...." instead of "Freiherr von...."

I'm not sure from your small, angled, sideways shots, but if the lines on the stripe ("Bend") are only horizontal and not cross-hatched in any way when viewed upright, that represents the color blue (azure), while the dotted shield background represents the metal color gold (or)

Good luck!!! I've never had any, with No-Clues pre-1918 items!

                Hi

Thanks to all on their thoughts!

Yes if I understand right, the lines are cross

hatched I believe inside the stripe!

Now I also want to post pics of this court sword that was with this and a couple others!

The court sword has Queen sitting on throne
and has name on blade( Eisfnhauer) or
                (Eisenhauer).

Don't know if any connection! Family connection?

                Here is pic!

That's the M1818 sword, replaced in the Prussian (and most other German armies) by the M1889-- but remained in use with all sorts of civil service until WW1, and military owners could still wear it if they wanted. Can't tell which version from what you have shown.

If the lines in the arms' bar are not just

                    =
                    =
                    =
                    =

across, the direction and type of XXXXX or /// or \\\ across the horizontal lines pattern is the "etching" version for the color, on that Third Reich one.
