    'horseshoe' army deluxe dagger hangers

    Hi,

Would someone have a look at these and give me their opinions? I've just got them in the post and I'm not sure about them (not being a dagger man) I cannot post any pics until the WE

    Thanks a lot,

    John

        John,

They look pretty good from the photos...my only concern is that they look 'too new', but they could just be in really nice condition

Is the backing black or dark green?

                        Thanks Skip,
The backing is olive green and the whole set are very new looking ie the backing (no mothing etc) and the rivets, have these been faked before? They don't smell old and when the straps are unbuckled, the material lies flat - after 60 years I would expect it to be worn at the edges or taken on the shape of the buckles?

                          John,

It really all depends on how they were handled/stored over the last 60 years. I have a pair still in the cellophane that, understandably, show no wear on the edges are are still very stiff.

Unfortunately, hangers were certainly assembled post-war and are outright faked. That's why I am leery when I see a set that nice. It's great to find an original set in mint condition and hopefully that's waht we have here.

                          Have you black-lighted them?

                            Hi Skip,

I have now -and the thread holding the buckles in place that you can make out on the photo labelled 'detail 4' glows like a b*****d!. This is the only cotton thread on the item, the rest are rivets which look brand new. I think this one will be a return to sender job! Thanks a lot for your input - I rarely visit the daggers forum!

                            Regards,

                            John
