Not very often in this forum area

Just bought a knife on Ebay ( bargain) and I´m not very comfortable with such items.

Can you please tell me, what kind of knife we have here?

Looks like a ww2 German fighting knife. I am not familiar enough with these
to tell you much about it but I know that others here are more than qualified.

Can you post better pictures of the markings on the handle? Those intrigue
me very much.

You have a WW2 German fighting knife with fantasy SS scratchings on it. The scabbard appears to be of WW1 vintage...is that the remains of leather attached to the back of the scabbard if so only WW1 scabbards had leather. The WW2 era scabbards had a single or double prong to attach to uniform or jackboot. There was also a pronged type that hooked onto the leather belt. Bill Petz

Sorry, no other pics at the moment. The knife was a "buy now" on eBay for a low price (round 50USD) and so no time for getting more details.

I saw this odd looking scratches and I still hope they´re not that deep and maybe removable.
