Hi Phillips does the dagger tighten up any (with the tang nut) to make the gap any smaller between the crossguard and lower part of the grip and does the eagle appear to have been replaced at some stage there is quite a large gap around it on the pic you posted.

regarding the TM,i would say the blade is real.

but overcleaned

Fitting

I dont like any of the fittings of this dagger... the blade is likely original but was not put together with any of these pieces 70 years ago.
